This is easily the best nanotech-oriented SF I've run across. Stephenson has a witty, engaging style, tells a good story, and has not so far (halfway thru) committed any major blunders as far as the science and technology are concerned. He has a much better grasp of what nanotech is likely to be capable of than some of the other SF writers I've seen, and if he's left some possibilities out, it could well be defended on the on the basis of editorial/storyteller's license.
