I really enjoyed the book, although I must say I was more fond of Stephenson's writing than of the actual ideas he presents in _The Diamond Age_. I liked it that he actually credited E. Drexler for the nanotechnology terms that he used, such as "logic rods." For a look at the ideas behind nanotech, take a look at K. Eric Drexler's _Nanosystems_: John Wiley & Sons, Inc.: NY, 1992. ISBN 0-471-57547-X. 556 pp. $24.95. Very technical reading (senior undergradate level)..
