I was browsing the channels over the weekend when I heard a teaser for a report on the NBC Nightly News, something like: "If you think technology is small right now, pretty soon, it's going to get *even* smaller...We have a look at future prospects tonite on NBC." (This is my reconstruction of the teaser....I *did* tape it, but have yet to review it.)
When the segment comes on later, the story proceeds with interviews by *both* Merkle and Drexler explaining how nanotechnology will work and the prospects it holds in our society.
There wasn't anything new there for readers of Drexler's books, but I was floored by the fact that NT was getting *national* attention in a non-scientific forum...It was a step above FutureQuest in regard to wider audience and a more serious presentation...(although you couldn't get any *more* airy than the futurequest show, imho :^)
Anyhow, it *definitely* made my weekend, tho :)
If I get enough interest (and permission from NBC) I'll post a transcript.
Sincerely,
Marc Fielding
