I am sure that I saw an organic chemistry programme about macro molecules
last year that was somewhat related to this topic.
They showed what appeared to be mainly a cyclic polyethylene molecule
with more complex sites around the circumference. Looped around this
"necklace" was a smaller "ring" which travelled around the "necklace"
visiting each complex site in turn. They suggested it as a way of storing
"bits" at each site?
Or did I dream it.
